Inspired by America’s historic 250th birthday celebration, the creator of Oliver the Ornament has developed an interactive classroom program featuring our patriotic spin-off book, Oliver Doodle Dandy, to help children discover, celebrate, and appreciate the people, places, history, and ideals that make America so special.
Oliver Doodle Dandy is a celebration of America teaching children that what unites us is greater than what divides us, and that in America, Children can accomplish anything they set their minds to.
Oliver Doodle Dandy has been chosen as the only children’s book to be read at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum at their annual 4th of July celebration.
We’ve created a patriotic school program to teach children all about America. Details of the program include:
- Kick-Off with reading of Oliver Doodle Dandy beginning of May
- Follow-up discussion on what children learned in the story
- Assignment: Children tasked with completing a report or other grade appropriate project tied to the things they learned in the book
- Patriotic Picture Bingo Games
- Weekly Patriotic Picture Bingo and Assignment: Children tasked with completing a report or other grade appropriate project tied to the weekly Bingo Games
- Program ends with school-wide birthday party for America
As part of the program, we encourage schools to participate in grade specific projects tied to the book and our Bingo Games. Projects for all grades will be provided as part of this program. Ideas will include:
- Reports
- Creative Story Writing
- Coloring Contest
- Poems
- Time Capsule
- Write Letters to Veterans
- Create a Red, White, and Blue Banner
- Make an All-American Scrapbook
- Patriotic Skit or Speech
To help further celebrate America, we’ve created ten beautifully illustrated, downloadable Picture Bingo Games for use in the classroom. The games include:
- National Parks
- American Presidents
- Inspirational Americans
- 50 States (two versions)
- State Capitals (two versions)
- Land of Opportunity
- America Sites
All participating schools will receive a downloadable MovieBook of Oliver Doodle Dandy to either play in classrooms or in a school-wide assembly. Schools will also receive six copies of Oliver Doodle Dandy.
The total investment to participate in this program is $2.50 per student. Only school wide sales are accepted.
